NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

FISHER LAKE IMPROVEMENT

SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 2

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the township board for Glen Arbor Township will hold a public hearing on the 17th day of May, 2022 at 7:00 o’clock in the p.m. at the Glen Arbor Township Hall for the purpose of receiving any comments on or hearing any objections to the following:

1. The plans prepared for the proposed lake improvement project for Fisher Lake which connects with Glen Lake and the Crystal River in said township and the initial and annual cost estimates provided in connection therewith; and

2. A special assessment district, to be designated as the Fisher Lake Improvement Special Assessment District No. 2, which is proposed to include all residential parcels and all commercial boat slips with frontage on Fisher Lake and or the Crystal River between Fisher Road and Glen Lake, all in Glen Arbor Township; and

3. It is proposed that all residential parcels and all commercial boat slips in the special assessment district be specially assessed for the initial and annual cost of the Fisher Lake improvement on the following basis: $100/parcel or commercial boat slip; and

4. It is proposed that 50% of the benefit of the lake improvement be designated as an improvement benefitting the general public so that 50% of the cost of the improvement will be borne by Glen Arbor Township.

An owner or party in interest in any parcel fronting on Fisher Lake or the Crystal River between Fisher Road and Glen Lake in Glen Arbor Township may appear in person at the hearing to protest the proposed lake improvement, the initial and/or annual cost thereof, or the proposed financing of such improvement by special assessment.  A protest may also be made in writing.  If a protest is filed in writing, it must be submitted to the township clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on date of the public hearing.

Appearance and protest at the hearing is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal.  An appearance and protest may be made in person or in writing.  If made in writing, such protest shall be delivered to the township clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the date of the public hearing.
