Job Opening: Deputy Clerk

GLEN ARBOR TOWNSHIP is seeking to fill a DEPUTY CLERK POSITION:

By law (MCL 41.69) the Clerk must appoint a deputy. Deputy township officials are authorized to act as the elected official in the event of the official’s absence, sickness, death or other disability however, the deputy may not vote as a member of the Township Board. The Deputy Clerk of Glen Arbor Township will support the Township Clerk in both statutory and non-statutory duties to deliver effective, efficient and responsive service to the elected Township Board and the residents of Glen Arbor Township.

Duties Include but are not limited to:

Maintain township records

Record, maintain, and publish township meeting minutes

Post meeting notices

Keep voter registration files and conduct elections

Coordinate and process requests for rental of the town hall and meeting room

Maintain township calendar

Coordinate special events

Post items to township website

Answer phones and assist walk-in residents

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Good customer service skills

Effective oral and written communication skills

Good time management and organizational skills

Associates degree or higher with knowledge of Governmental processes

Proficiency in:

Computer programs including Microsoft word, Excel, and Social Media programs Ability to:

Develop and foster positive working relationships with others

Effectively balance a broad range of ever-changing projects and priorities

Work independently and with others to achieve goals

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a part-time position, averaging 10 – 15 hours per week. Individuals applying must be available and willing to work Elections and have flexible schedules on evenings/weekends around election dates.
